As autumn settles in over Glasgow, with its crisp air and leaves falling, there’s no better time to gather with loved ones and indulge in the comforting flavours of the season. Here at The Buttery, our new autumn menu captures the essence of this beautiful time of year, showcasing the finest ingredients and traditional Scottish dishes. Join us as we take you on a culinary journey that promises to warm both your heart and your palate.

To begin

We believe a memorable dining experience begins with a delightful starter, and our autumn offerings do not disappoint. Picture this: Cullen skink, a traditional Scottish fish soup, lovingly prepared with smoked haddock, leeks, and potatoes, finished with cream. It’s the perfect antidote to the chilly weather, providing a rich, warming embrace with every spoonful.

If you prefer something a touch more refined, try our whisky cured salmon with pink peppercorn, and fennel. It is served alongside toasted sourdough and pickled cucumber. It’s a beautiful marriage of flavours that showcases some of Scotland’s finest exports.

For those looking for a unique twist, our scallops and veggie haggis dish is a must-try. West coast scallops are paired with a luscious crayfish butter, parsley, garlic and vegetarian haggis, creating a perfect harmony of oceanic and savoury flavours.

And let’s not forget the duck and potato scone – tender duck leg braised in a medley of soy, ginger, and garlic, served with a homemade potato scone. This dish is as comforting as it is indulgent, making it an ideal choice to start your meal.

Hearty mains

As you transition to the mains, prepare yourself for an explosion of autumnal flavours. The Highland venison is a standout. Saddle of wild venison served with hazelnut crumble, parsnip puree, sweet potato gratin, and juniper jus. This dish embodies the spirit of the season, showcasing the rich, gamey flavours that Scotland is renowned for.

For seafood lovers, our West Coast halibut is a real treat. Pan-fried to perfection, it is complemented by sautéed potatoes, a rich tomato and tarragon butter, and creamed spinach, topped with lump fish caviar for that touch of Buttery pizzazz we all know and love.

And if you’re in the mood for something a little more exotic, our monkfish and scallop dish features apple-glazed monkfish paired with pan-fried scallops, roasted and pickled squash, and a vibrant Thai butternut squash sauce. This dish is a delightful celebration of contrasting textures and flavours.

For a taste of home, the chicken and haggis option is a comforting delight. The chicken is stuffed with Macsween haggis, served alongside a haggis bon-bon and a velvety Arran mustard cream sauce. It’s a dish that truly pays homage to Scotland’s culinary heritage, and our own too.

Decadent desserts

No autumn meal is complete without something sweet to finish. Our crème brulée is a classic choice, with its creamy custard topped with a crisp caramelised sugar layer and served with fresh berries. For a more indulgent option, the chocolate gateaux is a decadent milk chocolate mousse served with nougatine ice-cream and a drizzle of Amaretto and chocolate sauce.

If you’re after a refreshing finish, our lemon posset offers a zesty twist, featuring a creamy lemon posset paired with blueberries and a homemade stem ginger blondie. It’s the perfect way to cleanse the palate after a hearty meal.

For those who adore fruity desserts, the strawberry meringue is a light and airy delight, combining meringue with strawberry and lemongrass, candied lemons, and vanilla Chantilly. It’s a vibrant dish that encapsulates the flavours of the season.

And let’s not forget the comforting apple crumble, filled with apples, mixed berries, and cinnamon, served with homemade vegan vanilla ice-cream. This dish is like a warm hug on a plate, making it an autumn favourite.
